Captain Planet and the Planeteers, la serie tv animata degli anni '90 verrà adattata in una serie live-action da Netflix con Greg Berlanti e Leonardo DiCaprio come produttori esecutivi.
Secondo le anticipazioni USA, Tara Hernandez sta scrivendo la sceneggiatura del remake.
Serie e sequel anni Novanta
Captain Planet and the Planeteers, nota come Captain Planet, è una serie creata da Barbara Pyle e Ted Turner, prodotta da Turner Program Services e DIC Enterprises, in onda su TBS dal 1990 al 1992.
Il sequel The New Adventures of Captain Planet targato Hanna-Barbera Cartoons è andato in onda dal 1993 al 1996.
La serie ha come protagonista un supereroe ambientalista e ha generato un franchise composto da giocattoli ecologici, fumetti, videogiochi e un'associazione di beneficenza.
Ogni episodio è seguito da una clip Planeteer Alert con consigli agli spettatori in tema di spreco e inquinamento ambientale.
